The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, infrastructural expansion, and staff welfare during its 3rd Congregation Meeting held on Friday, 13 February 2026.

The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, infrastructural expansion, and staff welfare during its 3rd Congregation Meeting held on Friday, 13 February 2026.

The meeting brought together academic and non-academic staff to review institutional progress and align priorities for sustained growth.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, expressed gratitude for the university’s steady advancement since inception and commended staff for their resilience, cooperation, and dedication. He emphasized the need to sustain a conducive learning environment while proactively addressing student-related concerns.

On infrastructure, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed significant expansion in academic facilities. The university now operates 20 laboratories for the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and 15 laboratories for the Faculty of Science and Computing, a move designed to enhance practical training, strengthen research capacity, and elevate instructional delivery.

Highlighting the role of knowledge resources, Professor Garba underscored that the university library serves not only students but also staff and the broader community. He encouraged staff to leverage the facility to deepen research output, improve teaching quality, and support professional advancement.

Addressing workplace culture and welfare, the Vice-Chancellor called on staff to uphold institutional values anchored on diligence, integrity, collaboration, and mutual respect. He stressed that a stable and productive academic environment depends on collective responsibility and ethical conduct.

He further reiterated management’s commitment to continuous staff development through structured training programmes, workshops, and other capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing competence and long-term career progression.

Professor Garba concluded by acknowledging the sustained support and investment of the Office of the Proprietor, noting that such backing has been instrumental in accelerating the university’s development trajectory.

The congregation ended with a renewed pledge from management and staff to work collaboratively toward consolidating KHAIRUN’s academic standing and institutional growth.
