Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University Launches New Sports Facilities
Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University Kano (KHAIRUN) has officially launched its basketball and tennis courts, along with other sports facilities, on December 24, 2024.
The launch is part of the university's efforts to enhance its sporting activities and provide a balanced learning environment for its students.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, the new facilities aim to promote physical and mental well-being among students, while also complementing their academic pursuits.¹ Prof. Garba emphasized the importance of sports in fostering a vibrant campus life and enriching the overall university experience.
The guest speaker, Prof. A.A. Musa Garba Yakasai from Bayero University, Kano, praised the high standard of KHAIRUN's sporting facilities and commended the university's registration with the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA). Prof. Yakasai encouraged KHAIRUN to continue advancing its integration of sports and academics, opening opportunities for students to excel nationally and internationally.
KHAIRUN's Registrar, Mal. Yusuf Datti, echoed the significance of blending sports with academics, noting that it provides students with a solid foundation to pursue global careers in professional sports.
