Kwara-Born Scholar Olusegun Alabi Elevated to Professor of Statistics at FUTA

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has officially promoted Dr. Olusegun Olatayo Alabi to the rank of Professor of Statistics, effective from 2022. 

Professor Alabi, originally from Oba-Isin in Kwara State, began his academic career at Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2001 before joining FUTA in 2010 as a Lecturer II. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics at the University of Ilorin and earned his Doctorate from the same institution in 2016. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019.

The announcement of his elevation came during a University Board meeting on August 21, 2024. Professor Alabi's rise to this esteemed rank reflects his significant contributions and dedication to the field of statistics.

He is married to Deaconess Ayoola Elizabeth Alabi, and they have two children, with their son Victor currently serving in the NYSC.
