The Kwara State Government has set the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fee for the 2024/2025 academic year at N30,250 per student for those in senior secondary school final classes in public schools across the state.

This fee structure includes a breakdown of N27,000 for WAEC charges, N1,250 for e-registration, and N2,000 for administrative charges, according to Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development. Modibbo-Kawu emphasized the importance of adhering to this approved fee structure and warned principals against any additional charges.

The Commissioner addressed senior secondary school principals during the official commencement of WAEC registration held at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin. She cautioned that any principal found guilty of extorting students or parents would face serious consequences, stressing that the Ministry will not tolerate any unauthorized charges.

In a statement released by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary to the Ministry, Modibbo-Kawu expressed appreciation for the dedication of principals in building a positive working relationship with the Ministry to enhance educational quality. She also urged principals to support Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, commending his commitment to improving the welfare of teachers and citizens in Kwara State.

Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, also praised Governor AbdulRazaq’s efforts in uplifting the state’s education sector. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to teacher welfare and educational reform.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Bake, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the Governor's significant contributions to the state's education sector. She encouraged teachers to remain diligent in their responsibilities.

Providing further details, Mrs. Adewuyi Victoria, Director of Curriculum and Assessment at the Ministry, outlined the approved fees:

  • E-registration: N1,250
  • Administrative Charges: N2,000
  • Total: N30,250

In his address, Mohammad Baba, President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Kwara State Wing, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for enhancing the education system through initiatives such as school rehabilitation, prompt salary payments, and teacher promotions. He pledged the commitment of Kwara’s educators to meet the administration’s expectations by upholding high professional standards.
