Kwara State Polytechnic has replaced the Post-JAMB exam with a screening exercise, allowing candidates to know their scores early based on O-Level, JAMB, and, for HND aspirants, ND grades.
How the Screening Exercise Works
Kwara Poly's screening exercise evaluates candidates based on their O-Level results, JAMB scores, and, for HND aspirants, their ND grades. Here’s a breakdown of the scoring system:
O-Level Scores Calculation:
A1 = 5 Points
B2 = 4 Points
B3 = 3 Points
C4 = 2 Points
C5 = 1 Point
C6 = 1 Point
Example Calculation: If a candidate has the following grades: B2, B2, C4, A1, and C5, the calculation would be: 4 (B2) + 4 (B2) + 2 (C4) + 5 (A1) + 1 (C5) = 16 points
JAMB Score Calculation:
Candidates’ JAMB scores are converted to a percentage:
Example Calculation: For a JAMB score of 184: (184 / 400) x 100 = 46%
Combined Scoring:
The total score for ND candidates is calculated by adding the O-Level score and the JAMB percentage: 46% (JAMB) + 16 (O-Level) = 62%
The total score for ND candidates is calculated by adding the O-Level score and the JAMB percentage: 46% (JAMB) + 16 (O-Level) = 62%
HND Candidates Scoring:
HND candidates must also include their ND grades in the calculation:
Lower Credit = 5 Points
Upper Credit = 10 Points
Distinction = 15 Points
Final Score Calculation:
The final screening score for HND candidates combines JAMB score percentage, O-Level score, and ND grades: JAMB Percentage + O-Level Points + ND Grade Points
Note:
While this method outlines how merit-based admissions are calculated, the final admission may also be influenced by external factors. Candidates are encouraged to remain hopeful and rely on both their academic preparation and personal networks for successful admission.
