Kwara State Polytechnic Unbundles HND Mass Communication and Computer Science Programs
Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, is restructuring its Higher National Diploma programs in Mass Communication and Computer Science to enhance specialization and meet global industry demands.
Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has announced the unbundling of its Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in Mass Communication and Computer Science. This move, which will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic session, aligns with the directives of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Dr. Abdul Mohammed, Rector of the Polytechnic, stated that the decision aims to enhance the quality and relevance of technical education in response to global demands in information and communication technology. "The unbundling will allow students to specialize in specific areas, developing the targeted skills employers seek," said Mohammed.
As part of the restructuring, Mass Communication and Computer Science will no longer be offered as single programs at the HND level. New departments will be established, with appointed heads overseeing the specialized courses. The management is committed to providing necessary resources to support the effective implementation of these changes.
The move is expected to improve the educational outcomes and job readiness of graduates from Kwara State Polytechnic.
