“Let me thank BOSU Management for donating one hundred thousand naira during the launch of the newspaper in August last year. That assistance went a long way in helping us set up Lake Chad Times,” she said.

In his response, Professor Gutti commended the young journalists for their initiative and assured them of the university’s readiness to collaborate, particularly through the Mass Communication Department and the Vice-Chancellor’s media office.

He urged the team to uphold professionalism, objectivity, and balance in their reportage, while paying greater attention to issues affecting the people, especially the ongoing economic crisis and its impact on households.

On gender advocacy, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for inclusivity. “Attention should be given not only to the girl-child but also to the boy-child, because a neglected boy-child eventually grows to become the head of the girl-child. There is need to strike a balance between the two,” he advised.

Professor Gutti encouraged the Lake Chad Times team to remain committed to their work and assured them of the university’s continued support.
