The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the 2026 e-Registration and payment process for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) through the Lagos State Examinations Board.
According to the Board, the exercise will begin on Monday, January 26, 2026, and end on Friday, March 27, 2026. The initiative aligns with the state government’s ongoing policy of leveraging technology to streamline examination processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure a seamless registration procedure without the physical presence of school owners at the Board.
Speaking on the development, the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu, stated that all schools are required to use the newly issued School Code throughout the registration process.
He explained that Public Junior Secondary Schools are to download the Offline Data Capturing Application via the Board’s official portal, while Approved Private Junior Secondary Schools, schools operating with Special Permission, and Continuing Education Centres (CEC) are to complete payment and registration through the designated online payment portal to generate their login credentials.
Mr. Orunsolu further disclosed that Approved Private Junior Secondary Schools and Approved Public Continuing Education Centres are to pay a registration fee of ₦10,000 per candidate. In contrast, Junior Secondary Schools operating with Special Permission and Private Continuing Education Centres are required to pay ₦15,000 per candidate.
He also advised schools presenting candidates with special needs, including visual impairment or albinism, to formally notify the Lagos State Examinations Board in writing ahead of time to enable adequate preparation before the commencement of the examination.
The Registrar urged all participating schools to strictly adhere to the approved guidelines and procedures for payment and registration, warning that late registration may attract penalties.
