LASU and Nigeria Immigration Service to Co-Host ABORNE 2026 Conference
Lagos State University (LASU) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will co-host the African Borderlands Research Network (ABORNE) Conference 2026, scheduled for August 2026 at LASU's Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The conference will bring together scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss border governance, migration, cross-border cooperation, and transnational development dynamics. LASU's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, has inaugurated the National Working Committee (NWC) to coordinate Nigeria's preparations.
The NWC comprises academics, border management experts, and institutional representatives, including Dr. Willie Eselebor, Professor Tunji Azeez, and Comptroller Saratu Ibrahim Abdulganiyu. The committee's first strategic meeting was held at LASU, outlining conference planning milestones and thematic focus areas.
