The Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) honoured the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, with the launch of a book chronicling her remarkable life and achievements.

In a grand ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, on October 14, 2024, the Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) honoured the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, with the launch of a book chronicling her remarkable life and achievements. The event, marking her third anniversary in office, drew notable figures from academia, private industries, and politics, celebrating her transformative leadership.

The book, Chronicles of Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, highlights her exceptional contributions to LASU’s growth, academic excellence, and institutional reforms. Since assuming office as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello has overseen substantial advancements, enhancing the university’s global reputation.

The event was chaired by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), who lauded Professor Olatunji-Bello as a visionary leader whose influence transcends academia. Princess Orelope-Adefulire praised the Vice-Chancellor for making LASU the most digitalized and best state university in Nigeria.

During the event, Professor B. B. Lafiaji-Okuneye, Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), reviewed the book, hailing it as a significant documentation of Professor Olatunji-Bello’s extraordinary journey and contributions to the academic world.

Several prominent speakers, including Sir David Sunmoni, Chairman of LASU’s Governing Council, and Hon. Tolani Sule, Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, highlighted her achievements and praised her for positioning LASU at the forefront of academic excellence.
