LAUTECH Doctoral Alumni Endow ₦1 Million Prize in Honour of Prof. Julius Kola Oloke
Doctoral alumni of Professor Julius Kola Oloke at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have endowed a sum of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) in honour of the distinguished Professor of Microbiology and Biotechnology.
Doctoral alumni of Professor Julius Kola Oloke at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have endowed a sum of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) in honour of the distinguished Professor of Microbiology and Biotechnology.
The endowment, instituted this afternoon, will be known as the “Professor Julius Kola Oloke Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Microbiology.” The award carries a cash prize of ₦100,000 and will be presented at LAUTECH’s first-degree convocation ceremonies. The fund is to be managed by the University.
Speaking at the brief ceremony held at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, leader of the group, Professor Agbaje Lateef, said the honour recognises Professor Oloke’s immense contributions to the fields of microbiology and biotechnology, as well as his lifelong dedication to mentoring scholars who now occupy notable positions in academia, research institutions, and industry.

Professor Lateef noted that the endowment was a gesture of appreciation for Professor Oloke’s exceptional mentorship and expressed confidence that his scholarly legacy would continue to inspire future generations of microbiologists. He added that the group desires the award to take effect from the April 2026 convocation ceremonies.
In his response, Professor Julius Kola Oloke expressed gratitude to the alumni, offering prayers for their continued progress and professional growth.
The Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, commended Professor Oloke for his sustained commitment to the development of the University and urged those present to remain steadfast in acts that promote academic excellence and societal good.
