A nongovernmental organisation, Brace-up The Young, has renovated three classroom blocks at Lucida Ephataz Model School, Ilasa, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State, on September 10, as part of its effort to help low-income schools.

According to the organisers, the BTY project tagged “Better School Project” was aimed at renovating 60 classrooms in 20 low-income schools in Nigeria.

The Director of the group, Obasanjo Fajemirokun, said the organsation was established in 2018 to educate and mentor young people living in low-income communities to become innovative leaders.

Lamenting learning condition, the Director said, “Most students in low-income communities learn in dilapidated classrooms, without roofing, proper flooring, windows and doors. Some even learn under trees or in open fields due to the poor state of their school building affecting their learning outcomes.”

Fajemirokun said the project sought to renovate 57 more classrooms in 19 low-income schools in Nigeria within five years.

The school Proprietress, Abiola Olaniyi, appreciated the group, noting that their intervention would improve teaching and learning process.

The chairman, Community Development Association, represented by the Treasurer, Awe Kayode, said the intervention of the group was immense.

He said the organisation had prevented disruption of learning activities and shutdown during the rain.

Fajemirokun appreciated The Pollination Project Grant and donors who supported the project.
