MAAUN Awards Foreign Scholarships to 43 First-Class Graduates

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has awarded foreign scholarships to 43 first-class graduates at its maiden convocation ceremony held on Saturday in Kano.

The Founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, announced the scholarships at the event, saying the award would fully sponsor the beneficiaries to pursue Master’s degrees in any country of their choice.

Gwarzo congratulated the graduates and urged them to be good ambassadors of the institution wherever they found themselves.

In his address, the President of MAAUN, Prof. Mohammed Israr, said the university commenced academic activities in 2022 with 15 programmes across four schools and had expanded to 22 programmes in eight schools.

He disclosed that 492 students graduated from 12 programmes, comprising 43 First Class, 220 Second Class Upper and 229 Second Class Lower degree holders.

The Chancellor of the university, Prof. Mahamouda Salouhou, encouraged the graduates to uphold the values of the institution.

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Wali Sulaiman Sani, assured of the state government’s continued support for the education sector.

The best graduating student, Khadija Ibrahim Manzo of the Department of Human Resource Management, received a N5 million cash prize from the founder.

The convocation was attended by government officials, traditional rulers and academics from across the country.
