MAAUN Kano signs MoU with Federal University Vicosa, Brazil
Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) Kano, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Federal University Vicosa (UFV) Brazil as part of a renewed effort to promote academic excellence.
The meeting, which was conducted virtually, was held on Monday, 6th March, 2023 at the President’s Conference Hall, MAAUN in the presence of officials from both institutions.
In his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr said the agreement is aimed at promoting students and faculty exchange as well as undertaking joint research and consultancy activities.
Prof. Israr noted that the partnership, when implemented, would give students of the partner institutions the opportunity to explore and develop their intellectual capacity through participation in seminars and workshops that will be jointly organized from time to time by the two Universities.
According to him, the MoU is a milestone in the history of the two prestigious Universities which when actualized, would promote academic and cultural interchange among the students.
He expressed the commitment of MAAUN to ensuring full implementation of the partnership as soon as all paperwork and prerequisites are completed.
Speaking, the Head, International Office, UFV Brazil, Prof. Vladimir expressed enthusiasm to sign the agreement with MAAUN, saying UFV is satisfied with the structures and commitment of the Institution in the areas of research and development.
Prof. Vladimir, who lauded Nigerian students for their character and exceptional academic performance in UFV, said they are the second largest population of international students studying in the University.
He expressed hope that the MoU would serve the purpose for which it was signed in addition to being used as a reference point to many other collaborations to come in the future.
In a brief remark, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, described the partnership as timely as the institutions stand to mutually benefit from the wealth of experience and resources of each other.
According to him, when the partnership becomes operational, MAAUN has a lot of innovative ideas in many areas of academic and research development which will be shared with its partner institution.
Dr. Habib, who stressed the importance of the collaboration, also said, it will go an extra mile in promoting the University’s quest for excellence and internationalization.
Earlier, the Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq, said given the level of commitment of the two reputable institutions, the MoU would significantly promote impact-based research and international recognition of the two partners.
In his vote of thanks, the Head, Corporate Communication and Protocol Unit of MAAUN, Engr. Bashir Garba, thanked all the participants, who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the program.
He lauded the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for his philanthropic services to humanity and for his contribution to educational development in Africa and beyond.
