McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, hosted the 2025 Interstate Security Coordination Meeting on Thursday, 28 November 2025, bringing together top security stakeholders from Ogun, Oyo, and Osun States to review regional security challenges and enhance collaborative strategies.

The meeting was chaired by AIG Olusola Subair (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security to the Governor of Ogun State, and CP Fatai Owoseni (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Oyo State. Commissioners of Police from Ogun and Oyo, Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), and State Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also participated. Sector Commanders of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from both states, along with other heads of security and intelligence agencies, attended or were represented by senior officers.
In his opening remarks, AIG Subair commended McPherson University for hosting the session, highlighting the importance of interstate engagement in reassessing security architecture and establishing effective strategies for neighboring states.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Francis Igbasan described the meeting as timely, citing recent security incidents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu corridor, herdsmen-related cases, and rising drug and cult activities in tertiary institutions. He emphasized that criminals often exploit state borders and gaps in coordination, making unified strategies and consistent intelligence-sharing essential.
Professor Igbasan praised the collaborative approach, noting that harmonized operational strategies, joint patrols, and common protocols would limit criminal activity and strengthen regional safety. He reaffirmed McPherson University’s commitment to supporting security initiatives through research expertise, intellectual resources, and institutional backing for sustainable peace and development.

The meeting concluded with security agencies from the three states pledging to reinforce cooperation, improve communication, and implement actionable strategies to address shared security challenges along the Ogun–Oyo corridor.
