Meet Sumaiyah Muhammad Salisu, Teen Writer Who Won $100 African Teen Writers Award

Sumaiyah Muhammad Salisu, a talented teenage writer, has clinched the $100 African Teen Writers Award in the prose category for her story, "Five Things Mother Did Not Prepare Me For."The announcement was made in Kigali, Rwanda.  

The young literary sensation first gained recognition in 2023 at HIASFEST, Minna, where she secured second place for the Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors with her debut novella, The Murder at School. In 2024, her second novella, Unbroken: A Healing Odyssey, propelled her further into the spotlight, earning her the 1st runner-up position and recognition as the most valuable participant in the female category at HIASFEST.
