National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Enugu set to produce her first elected joint campus council, as CPC conducts screening for aspirants.

The screening exercise was held at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) on Friday May 26th, 2023, the screening and clearance activities were aimed to ensure a fair and transparent election process by evaluating and assessing the eligibility and qualifications of aspiring candidates. The exercise was conducted smoothly, adhering to established guidelines and protocols of the NANS Constitution, which will result in the selection of highly qualified candidates for the upcoming NANS election.

The National Association of Nigerian Students is a prominent organization representing the interests of Nigerian students across the country. The aspirant screening exercise plays a crucial role in selecting competent candidates who will lead and advocate for the welfare of students. The primary objectives of the screening exercise were to verify candidates' eligibility, assess their qualifications, and ensure that they meet the necessary criteria for participation in the election.

The Central Planning Committee led by Comr. Ugwuegbe Darlington and Comr. Ogene Romanus Ensured that a comprehensive planning process was undertaken for the smooth execution of the aspirant screening exercise.

The screening exercise was executed meticulously, adhering to the established guidelines and protocols.

Aspiring candidates were required to  submit relevant documents, including academic records, identification proofs, and evidence of student enrollments, Security Clearance from the Anti Cult and Department of State Security Services which was verified by the CPC.

The  Candidates equally underwent a rigorous assessment process, which included evaluating their academic achievements, leadership experience, involvement in student-related activities, and understanding of NANS' goals and objectives. This evaluation was carried out by the members of the CPC.

An oral interview was equally conducted , where the aspirants were evaluated on their communication skills problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of key issues affecting Nigerian students.

 The entire aspirant screening exercise was conducted efficiently, without any major disruption.

The assessment and evaluation process was transparent and impartial, providing each candidate with a fair chance to showcase their qualifications and suitability for the election. The CPC  demonstrated professionalism and expertise in their evaluations as they are well experienced in students activities.

The CPC chairman Comr. Ugwuegbe Darlington while addressing the aspirants inculcated in them the values that NANS upholds . He admonished them that the  process may seam stressful but it is to enable the next phase of leadership perform well with the new position of NANS, he equally informed the Aspirants that the CPC was officially Commissioned by the NANS Enugu Zonal representative who are empowered to constitute a Commitee to conduct the election. 

It is Worthy to note that the successful conduct of the aspirant screening exercise for the NANS election was a crucial step towards ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process as  the outcomes of this exercise will contribute to the promotion of effective leadership and advocacy for the welfare of Nigerian students.
