Nasarawa State University Hosts 45th Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Abdullahi Adamu

Nasarawa State University, Keffi, held its 45th Inaugural Lecture on September 25, 2024, featuring Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman, a Professor of Islamic History and Contemporary Thoughts in the Department of Islam and Development Studies. The lecture, titled "Unveiling The Hidden Gems: Uncovering Deeper Meaning Of Islamic Studies Through Exploration And Discovery," focused on the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of Islamic knowledge.
During his presentation, Professor Adamu emphasized that the study of Islam extends beyond its religious context, offering insights into various societal elements such as art, science, history, media, philosophy, and politics. He argued that understanding Islam is crucial for both followers of the faith and those seeking a broader perspective on global cultures and interactions.
The professor highlighted that a comprehensive understanding of Islam fosters spirituality, morality, and ethics, while connecting individuals to a rich cultural and historical heritage. He asserted that this knowledge promotes values such as kindness, justice, and compassion, ultimately leading to peace and contentment.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, who presided over the event, congratulated Professor Adamu for his achievements and encouraged other professors to claim their professorial chairs. The lecture also featured goodwill messages from prominent figures, including the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Adam Binchi, and former Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma.
The event concluded with the presentation of a plaque of honor and a certificate to Professor Adamu by the Vice-Chancellor, recognizing his contributions to the academic community. Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman currently serves as the Director of Academic Planning at Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
