National Open University of Nigeria's Lagos Study Centre Organizes Training for Desk Officers

In a bid to foster a harmonious working relationship and improve communication among staff and students, the Management of the Lagos Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), recently organized a 1-day in-house training for its Desk Officers.
Opening the session, the Director of the Centre, Prof. Alero Akujobi, emphasized the importance of effective communication, idea exchange, and empathy in creating a positive and productive work environment. She highlighted that building strong staff relationships requires genuine effort, trust, and continuous feedback.
The Principal Assistant Registrar (PAR) for the Faculty of Education, Mrs. Ejiro Ojo, delivered a session on “Staff-Student Relationship,” describing the study centre as a bridge between students and the university. She urged staff members to view students as clients, taking responsibility for their development and ensuring a seamless academic experience.
The Centre’s Chief Counsellor, Mrs. Veronica Aka-Nwachukwu, discussed stress management, advising staff to recognize and manage stress caused by balancing work and family life.
This training aims to equip staff with the skills to improve workplace dynamics, ensuring a supportive environment for both staff and students at NOUN.
