Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), was honored with the Award of Excellence as the “Trailblazer in Educational Equity and Funding” by the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Nasarawa State University Chapter, during the association's Annual Law Dinner in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Saturday.

The award was received on Mr. Sawyerr's behalf by Mr. Saifullah Bello, recognizing his exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing educational equity through his role at NELFUND. Under his leadership, NELFUND has initiated crucial financial support programs for Nigerian students, enabling access to higher education without financial constraints.

During the ceremony, organizers hailed Mr. Sawyerr as a “beacon of hope” and a “blessing” for both the Law Students Association and students nationwide. In her remarks, Prof. Saadatu Liman, Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing the education loan initiative, which she said has empowered ordinary Nigerians to pursue higher education and foster personal and national development.

The award ceremony underscored Mr. Sawyerr’s significant impact and the growing recognition of NELFUND’s mission to close the financial gap in education for many Nigerian students.
