TETFund Announces Two-Year Partial Suspension of its Foreign Scholarship
This decision, effective immediately, means the Academic Staff Training and Development Department (AST&D) will no longer accept or process new submissions for overseas sponsorship.
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced a two-year partial suspension of its foreign scholarship component under the Academic Staff Intervention Programme (TSAS) .
This decision, effective immediately, means the Academic Staff Training and Development Department (AST&D) will no longer accept or process new submissions for overseas sponsorship.
The suspension is attributed to several factors, including:
- Operational changes in the foreign exchange market, leading to the abolition of the official exchange rate at the Central Bank of Nigeria
- Insufficient 2023 allocation for the TETFund Scholarship for Academic Staff Intervention Programme
- Paucity of funds regarding beneficiary institutions' available balances ¹
All existing MoUs with partner institutions will remain unaffected, provided the beneficiary institution's available balance can cover training costs ¹. These partner institutions include:
- FARA/ARIFA Brazil
- Morgan State University, USA
- Campus France
- Lovely Professional University, India
- Sharda University, India
- Integral University, India
- University Putra, Malaysia
- University Sains, Malaysia
- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
- University Malaya
Beneficiary institutions are encouraged to promote staff applications for admission to these partner institutions, following the guidelines for accessing the TETFund Scholarship for Academic Staff Intervention Programme . Availability of funds will be subject to beneficiaries' balances at the Fund.
This announcement was signed by Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund .
