NGO Distributes 10,000 School Sandals in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States

ProjectSouls4Soles, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has undertaken a remarkable initiative by distributing 10,000 pairs of school sandals to socially deprived areas in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States, as well as four provinces in the Republic of Benin. The founder, Olayinka Olawore, revealed this during a briefing with journalists in Lagos.

The organization initially began distributing sandals but expanded its outreach to include food items like indomie and biscuits after recognizing the pressing need for sustenance among recipients. Olawore emphasized the importance of addressing poverty at its roots, starting with family empowerment.

Highlighting the local sourcing of materials for the outreach, Olawore underscored the NGO's commitment to supporting women-owned businesses in the communities they serve, thereby contributing to poverty alleviation efforts.

While commending the government's efforts, Olawore urged for greater collaboration between NGOs and government agencies, especially those working directly with families. She emphasized the invaluable insights NGOs could offer in formulating policies aimed at eradicating family poverty, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
