Professor Joy Chioma Nwabueze, Nigeria's first female Professor of Statistics, has expressed concern that the Federal Government is not listening to recommendations from expert statisticians.
According to her, this oversight negatively impacts national planning, the economy, resource allocation, and the electoral system.
Professor Nwabueze is a trailblazer in her field, having achieved numerous firsts throughout her career. She became the first female Professor of Statistics in Nigeria and has held various leadership positions, including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Statistics from the University of Ibadan, and she has published over 60 research works .
