Nigerian Secondary School Students Shine in Cambridge Exams, Earn Top Global Awards

Six exceptional students from three secondary schools in Nigeria have been honored with the prestigious Top in the World Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards. The six awardees comprise two students from the June 2023 series and four from the November 2023 series. These outstanding students hail from Brookstone School, James Hope College (Lagos), and The Ambassadors Group of Schools.

Six exceptional students from three secondary schools in Nigeria have been honored with the prestigious Top in the World Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards.

The recognition celebrates their outstanding performance in the June and November 2023 Cambridge examination series.

This momentous announcement was made by Mrs. Lucy Pearson, the Country Director of the Nigeria British Council, at the annual British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards event in Lagos on Thursday evening. The awards, presented in partnership with Cambridge International Examinations, recognize students who achieved the highest global marks in English as a second language.

The six awardees comprise two students from the June 2023 series and four from the November 2023 series. These outstanding students hail from Brookstone School, James Hope College (Lagos), and The Ambassadors Group of Schools.

Individual achievements were recognized, such as Oluwademilade David and Omaghomi Sharon from Brookstone School for the June 2023 achievements, as well as Obodoechi Chiedozie, Favour Chinecherem, and Fehintoluwa Erinayo from James Hope College, and Bamidele Sharon from The Ambassadors Group of Schools for the November 2023 performances. 

Pearson highlighted the exceptional accomplishment of 95 students from 37 British Council partner schools who attained the highest marks in subjects like Sociology, ICT, and Business Studies. Furthermore, 71 students were honored with the Top in Nigeria awards for securing top marks in individual subjects within the country.  The ceremony also included 48 High Achievement Awards and eight Best Across Awards, recognizing students with the highest cumulative marks across multiple subjects.
