Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers paid a courtesy visit to Professor Teddy Charles Adias, the Vice Chancellor of FUO, in his office. Among them was Engr. Edoghozu Jonah Boyibim, Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Bayelsa Branch, who led the delegation.

Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers paid a courtesy visit to Professor Teddy Charles Adias, the Vice Chancellor of FUO, in his office. Among them was Engr. Edoghozu Jonah Boyibim, Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Bayelsa Branch, who led the delegation.

In his address, Engr. Boyibim expressed gratitude to the VC for granting the visit and for the notable developments at the University. He highlighted improvements such as the VC’s office and various infrastructure enhancements.

He also mentioned ongoing reforms within the society, coinciding with the appointment of the first female President of NSE nationally.

Engr. Boyibim sought partnership from the University in various areas, including inviting the VC to the Society’s induction ceremony in Yenagoa and collaborating with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering to streamline the induction process for graduates.

Additionally, he requested sponsorship for colleagues to attend the annual general meetings (AGM) of COREN and NSE.

In response, the Vice Chancellor praised their visit, particularly acknowledging his long-standing acquaintance with Engr. Boyibim. He highlighted FUO’s full accreditation for Engineering programme and upcoming postgraduate initiatives, expressing the University’s need for collaboration.

The VC mentioned progress made by the University, expanding from two to twelve (2-12) Faculties and increasing programmes to 53. He expressed a desire for partnership with NSE and the Center for Niger Delta Studies to address landscape issues.

Regarding inductions, the VC agreed to combine graduands’ inductions in three sets at the University’s next convocation. However, he clarified that sponsorship for AGM attendance would only be possible if the engineer presented a paper due to TETFund provisions.

Concluding, the VC thanked the group and suggested hosting future meetings at the University to encourage attendance.  Other members of the NSE team were Engr. Adou, Doubara David (Vice Chairman), Engr. (Chief) Ikpekri, Bernard (Chairman, Chemical Engr. Division), Engr. Diepriye Owana-Omubo (Assistant Secretary), Engr. Seigha Gumus (Chapter Chairman, Mechanical Division), Engr. Abhon Adus (Technical Secretary), Engr. Rebecca Idubamo (Treasurer NSE), Engr. Banje Geoffrey(Chairman, Civil Engineering), Engr. Dr. H. D. Mac- Eteli (Assist. Tech. Sec.) with staff from the University present.
