Nigerian Teens Develop Innovative Urine-Powered Electricity Generators

Their invention, which involves an electrolytic cell and a series of components to harness hydrogen from urine, underwent rigorous refinement. Despite skepticism initially, their persistence paid off when they showcased their urine-powered generators at the Maker Faire Africa in 2012, garnering national and international acclaim.

Nigerian Teens Develop Innovative Urine-Powered Electricity Generators

Four ingenious teenagers from Lagos, Nigeria, Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola, have achieved a groundbreaking feat by inventing urine-powered generators capable of producing electricity.

The idea sprang from a tragic incident that struck 14-year-old Duro-Aina Adebola, who, upon learning about a family's fatal carbon monoxide poisoning from their generator, was inspired to seek safer alternatives. Teaming up with her friends, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola, they formed the "Fantastic Four" and embarked on a mission to find a solution.
