NOUN Fire Service Averts Inferno As Fuel Tanker Crashes Near Kaduna Campus Gate

The Fire Service Unit of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has averted an inferno as fuel-laden tanker was involved in ghastly accident near the Kaduna Campus gate, Myschoolnews gathered.

The accident saw the fuel tanker somersaulted and rammed into a moving 206 Peugeot car, which was also moving along the busy Kaduna - Zaria road, discharged the fuel it was conveying in all over directions.

As situation became desperate under a scorching high temperature, the Principal Assistant Registrar of the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), Mr. Usman Marafa, who resides at the Campus Quarters, quickly called the attention of the men of the Fire Service Unit, who responded promptly and swung into action.

The service men, due to the high temperature, showed expertise by a prolong spray of water on the truck as well as the running fuel to avert inferno.

Moreover, they stayed and continued to administer precautionary measures until when the remaining fuel in the other compartments of the tanker was transferred to another truck.

At the end, there was no single life lost and all the men involved were saved injury-free.

NOUN News recalls that the Fire Service Unit has been involved in series of similar missions in and around some areas of Kaduna metropolis.
