Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Inducts 211 ABU Graduands
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has inducted 211 graduands of the Department of Nursing Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, into the nursing profession. The induction ceremony took place on January 8, 2025, at Mamman Kontagora Square, Main Campus, ABU, Samaru, Zaria.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, commended the Department of Nursing Sciences for its resilience despite facing enormous challenges in previous years. He appealed to the NMCN to increase the number of indexed students annually for the university, considering its position as the highest producer of nurses in the country.¹
The Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. D.K Sani, noted that the induction ceremony is a tradition of the department to introduce graduands into the nursing profession. He highlighted the department's achievements, including having over ten PhD holders and producing the largest number of nurses in the global community.
The Registrar, NMCN, Malam Allhassan Ndagi, emphasized that the success of the graduands at the council's exams qualified them for registration into the profession. He encouraged the graduands to contribute to the quality assurance of the profession globally.
The induction ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates and awards to First Class graduates and other distinguished individuals.
