PAAU Vice-Chancellor Attends TETFund North Central Stakeholders’ Engagement in Lokoja

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, PAAU, Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has attended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, North Central Town Hall Meeting 2026 held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Government House, Lokoja, Kogi State.

The engagement was organized by the Member of the TETFund Board of Trustees representing the North Central Geopolitical Zone, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi. It brought together Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, policymakers and other stakeholders to deliberate on the future of tertiary education in the North Central region.

Declaring the meeting open, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, described investment in education as one of the most enduring investments any nation can make. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration and practical solutions to the challenges confronting tertiary education.

The Governor commended TETFund for its interventions in infrastructure, research, academic staff development and institutional capacity building. He urged the Fund to devote greater resources to research with practical outcomes in areas including agriculture, mining, healthcare, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and security.

He also called on tertiary institutions in the North Central to serve as solution centres capable of supporting governments and industries through research, innovation and technology. He noted that the region’s abundant agricultural and mineral resources could be transformed into food security, industrial growth and employment opportunities.

Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman joined other stakeholders in discussions aimed at strengthening tertiary education, institutional development and research in the North Central region. 

He described the engagement as a valuable platform for collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

Prof. Usman congratulated Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi on his appointment to the TETFund Board of Trustees. He also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support and mobilisation that contributed to the success of the engagement.

He expressed optimism that the deliberations would produce practical outcomes for the advancement of tertiary education in the North Central region.
