As the 2024 Batch 'A' certification of exemption has been delivered to institutions, exempted graduates are urged to collect their exemption certificates without delay. This announcement comes with specific requirements outlined by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Decree of 1993, section 2 subsection (1).

According to the decree, individuals meeting the following criteria are exempted from mandatory national service:

1. Age Limit: Candidates over the age of thirty (30) years at the time of graduation or obtaining their diploma or professional qualification.

2. Prior Service: Those who have served in the Armed Forces of the Federation or the Nigeria Police Force for more than nine months.

3. Membership: Individuals who are staff members of designated security organizations including the Nigerian Security Organization, State Security Service, National Intelligence Agency, or Defence Intelligence Service.

4. National Honour: Graduates who have been conferred with any National Honour are also exempted from national service.

Those falling under these categories are eligible for exemption from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and will be issued with Certificates of Exemption.

Furthermore, Nigerian graduates, whether trained at home or overseas, possessing qualifications such as B.Sc, B.A, or HND from approved institutions accredited by bodies like NUC, NTBE, or NCCE are also eligible for the Exemption Certificate.

The announcement emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines for the efficient and orderly process of exemption certificate issuance. Graduates falling within the outlined criteria are encouraged to promptly collect their Certificates of Exemption to facilitate their transition into various career paths.
