NYSC Members to Receive N70,000 Allawee Following Minimum Wage Approval

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers. This decision is expected to have a direct impact on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, who currently receive a monthly allowance of N33,000. The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, had previously stated that the allowance of corps members would be increased “immediately the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage."

The announcement was made by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. President Tinubu assured that the national minimum wage law would be reviewed every three years, emphasizing his commitment to improving workers’ welfare.
