NYSC Plateau Registers 62 Science Laboratory Technology Graduates Amid Allegations

This statement was made in response to allegations by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West Zone, that the NYSC had refused to register SLT graduates from polytechnics who are not members of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).

NYSC Plateau Registers 62 Science Laboratory Technology Graduates Amid Allegations

The Plateau State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Jonathan Yavala, has confirmed that 62 graduates of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) were registered in the ongoing 2024 Batch "B" Stream II Orientation Course in the state.

This statement was made in response to allegations by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West Zone, that the NYSC had refused to register SLT graduates from polytechnics who are not members of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).

During an interview with the press, Mr. Yavala clarified that out of the 62 SLT graduates registered at the camp, 52 were polytechnic graduates, most of whom are not registered with the NISLT. The remaining 10 graduates were from universities. He emphasized that the registration criteria for Corps Members are consistent across all NYSC camps nationwide.

In a separate interview, several SLT graduates, including Precious Aighwi (PL/24B/3239) from the University of Benin, Ruth Funmilayo Oyetunde (PL/24B/3112) from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Inyang Okon Effiong (PL/24B/2828) from Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba, confirmed that their registration process was seamless despite not being registered with the NISLT.
