Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Receives NUC Approval for Six New Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Okitipupa, Ondo State, to offer six new academic programmes starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The approval includes the introduction of Chemical Engineering, Economics, Public Administration, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Science, and Petroleum and Gas Engineering.

The university's Vice-Chancellor, Temi Ologunorisa, announced the approval in Okitipupa on Friday. According to Ologunorisa, the NUC's decision followed a resource verification visit conducted by a panel of experts in July, which assessed the university’s readiness to launch these programmes.

The NUC's letter, dated September 6, was signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Gerei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, Chris Maiyaki. The newly approved programmes include B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum and Gas Engineering within the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, as well as B.Sc. in Economics and Public Administration in the School of Management Sciences. Additionally, B.MLS in Medical Laboratory Science and B.Sc. in Public Health will be offered in the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

The approval marks a significant expansion of academic offerings at OAUSTECH, reflecting the institution's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and meeting the demands of the evolving job market.
