Gombe State University Conducts Free Medical Outreach in Collaboration with Rotary International and National Blood Service Agency

Gombe State University (GSU) has successfully organized a three-day blood donation and free medical outreach in partnership with Rotary International and the National Blood Service Agency. The event, which took place at the University campus and Shamaki Ward of Tudun Wada, reinforced the University's commitment to community service and societal development.
The outreach provided a range of healthcare services, including free malaria screening and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, Hepatitis B & C testing, blood screening and donation, distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, sanitary pad distribution for women, and free medication. Hundreds of individuals from the University, Shamaki Ward, and Tudun Wada communities benefited from these free medical services.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of GSU, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, emphasized the importance of community service, stating that universities must go beyond teaching and research to play an active role in community and state development.
The event was well-received by the community, with Shamakin Gombe expressing profound gratitude to GSU for this remarkable initiative. The Marafan Shamakin Gombe and Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) for Shamaki Ward and Gombe Local Government Area, Alhaji Musa Sani Abubakar, also extended his appreciation.
This outreach aligns with the University's core value of Government Interest and Commitment and supports the broader vision of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to improve the health and well-being of Gombe State residents. GSU looks forward to further collaborations and initiatives that will continue to benefit both the academic community and the larger society.
