OOU VC Canvasses Establishment Of Town and Gown Event To Strengthen Relationship Between Students And Host Community

The vice chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo university, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Ayodeji Agboola has canvassed an establishment of a town to gown event to strengthen the relationship between students and the host community.

The vice chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo university, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Ayodeji Agboola has canvassed an establishment of a town to gown event to strengthen the relationship between students and the host community.

Myschoolnews reports Agboola said this at the OOU town to gown day, held to mark the 40th founder's day anniversary of the university.

 

Agboola said "OOU was established 40 years ago, we flagged it up in January and we actually believe in history."

 

"There is nothing you are doing, even if it is research, if it doesn't have a component of town, the society; then it is useless.

 

"It is always important to have both gown and town working together all the time .

 

"We will be doing it yearly now, so that people in town will know that we are not their enemies and people in the university will also know that people in town are their friends and we can always come together to celebrate."

 

In their remarks, the Ebumawa of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdulrasaq Adenugba and the Olu of Ibogun-Showunmi, Obq Timothy Oyebola lauded the university for the even, stating it would bring more peace and sharing of culture amongst the parties.
