Patients and their families gathered in protest at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, decrying prolonged power and water shortages that have severely disrupted hospital operations. Aggrieved by the situation, protesters expressed frustration with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for disconnecting power to UCH for over 17 days.

In a viral video, some patients were heard chanting, “UCH don’t kill us, we want light. You people want to destroy the prestige of UCH, it’s a premium hospital.” They reported that the lack of electricity has caused significant delays in critical services, including medical tests and surgeries.
