Pro-Chancellor Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko praised the newly inaugurated National Executive Committee members of the UNILORIN Alumni Association during their visit on August 27, 2024. He emphasized the importance of their role in supporting the University’s vision and development.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko, has extended his congratulations to the newly elected National Executive Committee of the UNILORIN Alumni Association. This gesture was part of a recent visit by the Exco members, led by National President Prof. Abdulrazaq Olubusuyi Kilani, to his office.
In a press release issued by Chief Elijah Ola Olorunsuwa, the National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Surv. Aluko expressed his appreciation for the successful election and the importance of the Association’s support in the University’s development. He emphasized the need for the Alumni to uphold and enhance the University’s reputation as a leading institution in Nigeria.
"You are the ambassadors of the University," Surv. Aluko remarked, "and together, we aim to elevate UNILORIN to be among the top 10 in Africa and top 100 globally, in alignment with the Vice Chancellor’s vision."
Surv. Aluko, a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, assured the Association of his full support and cooperation. Drawing from his extensive experience on various University Councils, including Bayero University, Kano, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, he promised to leverage his political connections to benefit the University of Ilorin.
In response, Prof. Abdulrazaq Olubusuyi Kilani, the National President of the Alumni Association, pledged the Association's unwavering support for the University’s management and council. He underscored their commitment to contributing to the University’s growth.
Additionally, Prof. David Durosaro, Chairman of the Council of Past Presidents of the Alumni Association and its pioneer President, expressed gratitude to Surv. Aluko for meeting with the new Exco despite the short notice. He highlighted the visit as a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the Alumni Association and the University Council.
