Prof. Aisha S. Maikudi Appointed Acting VC of University of Abuja

The University of Abuja has appointed Prof. Aisha S. Maikudi as its Acting Vice-Chancellor, marking a historic milestone for the institution. Born on January 31, 1983, Prof. Maikudi has distinguished herself as the youngest female professor of Law in Northwestern Nigeria and within the university.

Prof. Maikudi's academic journey is illustrious, having graduated from Queens College, Lagos, and furthered her studies at the University of Reading where she obtained her LLB in 2004 and LLM from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 2005. She later earned her PhD in International Law from the University of Abuja in 2015. Joining the University of Abuja in 2008 as Lecturer II, she rapidly ascended to the rank of professor in 2022, becoming a trailblazer as the first female Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law in 2018 and subsequently founding the University's International Centre in 2019.

Prof. Maikudi's contributions extend beyond academia; she has participated in numerous national and international conferences across various countries, focusing on United Nations Law. Her extensive research and publications in this field underscore her commitment to legal scholarship. She holds memberships in prestigious professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Law Teachers Association (NLTA), and International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
