Prof. Anthonia Ekanibe Onuorah of ESUT was inducted as a Fellow of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON) during the 48th International Conference in recognition of her contributions to counseling, education, and student welfare.

Prof. Anthonia Ekanibe Onuorah, the Director of Counseling and Human Development at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), has been honored with induction as a Fellow of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON).

The investiture took place on August 20, 2024, during the association's 48th International Conference held in Warri, Delta State.

Prof. Onuorah is not only the Chairperson of CASSON Enugu State but also a Fellow of the International Institute of Chartered Educational Practitioners (IICEP). During her investiture, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CASSON President, Executive members, and the management of ESUT for their unwavering support.

As a distinguished educator, Prof. Onuorah has made significant contributions to the field of counseling, earning numerous accolades throughout her career. She received the Faculty of Education, ESUT, 2011 Merit Award as the best coordinator of Post-Graduate Studies and was recognized as the best lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations for the 2012/2013 academic session. Additionally, she was honored with the Award of Excellence in Educational Development by CASSON in October 2014.

Her impressive list of achievements includes being named Best Lecturer of the Year and "Mother of the Department" in 2014/2015, Most Caring Lecturer in 2015/2016, and Most Dedicated Lecturer in 2019. Prof. Onuorah was also recognized as a Pillar and Patroness by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) in 2018. In 2022, she received the African Outstanding Leadership and Personality Award from the African Youth Development Council (AYDC) for her extensive contributions to community development and youth empowerment.

A prolific writer and accomplished orator, Prof. Onuorah is a mentor to young academics and a member of nine professional organizations. She has published 78 works in various learned journals and has presented at 89 national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars.

In her leadership role within CASSON, Prof. Onuorah has served as treasurer, vice-chairperson, and currently as chairperson of the Enugu State chapter. She played a pivotal role in developing the initial counseling program now used in secondary schools throughout Enugu State, highlighting ESUT’s commitment to enhancing educational standards in the region.

Founded on November 15, 1975, CASSON is a national professional body representing trained and licensed counselors across various sectors, including education, health, and NGOs. The organization's objective is to assist individuals and organizations in exploring their environments, discovering their strengths and weaknesses, and setting achievable goals in harmony with their surroundings.

Prof. Onuorah's induction as a Fellow of CASSON marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career and underscores her dedication to the field of counseling and education, particularly at ESUT and throughout Nigeria.
