The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has made a significant contribution to national academic development with the appointment of Prof. Wasiu Lawal as the pioneer University Librarian of the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State.

Prof. Lawal, a seasoned scholar and expert in Library and Information Science, brings nearly four decades of experience to his new role. He holds a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Ibadan, a B.A. (Ed) from Olabisi Onabanjo University, and a Diploma in Library and Information Science from the University of Ibadan. His elevation to the rank of Professor of Library and Information Science in 2023 is a testament to his academic distinction and professional excellence .

As the pioneer University Librarian of FUADSI, Prof. Lawal is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the university's knowledge resources and research support services. His experience as Deputy University Librarian at FUNAAB's Prof. Wole Soyinka Digital Library will likely serve him well in this new role.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has congratulated Prof. Lawal on his appointment, describing it as a reflection of the university's commitment to nurturing exceptional leaders in academia. The appointment has reinforced FUNAAB's reputation as a breeding ground for outstanding academic leaders.

The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI) was established on February 20, 2025, following President Bola Tinubu's assent to its founding. The university is expected to begin its academic session by October 2025 .
