Rivers State University Unveils ₦110 Billion Five-Year Strategic Development Plan

Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, has formally launched its Third Five-Year Strategic Development Plan, a comprehensive roadmap designed to elevate the institution into the ranks of Nigeria’s top ten universities by the year 2030.

Presented on March 25, 2026, at the University Convocation Arena, the ambitious document outlines a clear path toward global competitiveness, innovation, and institutional excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, described the plan as a vital tool for institutional self-improvement, aimed at amplifying the university’s strengths while aggressively addressing existing infrastructure and funding gaps.

Echoing this sentiment, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, The Hon. Okey Wali, SAN, emphasized that the success of the 2026–2030 cycle rests on "collective commitment, discipline, and accountability" from all stakeholders.

A dedicated Strategic Planning Office has been established to oversee the rollout, supported by a robust monitoring and evaluation framework that includes a mandatory mid-term review to ensure all milestones are met.
