Six UNILAG Postgraduate Students Set for Erasmus+ Mobility Programme in France
Six postgraduate students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG), have been selected to participate in the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme at IMT Atlantique, France, beginning in September 2025.
Six postgraduate students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG), have been selected to participate in the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme at IMT Atlantique, France, beginning in September 2025.

The students are:
- Akindele, Abdul-Qudus Olajide
- Harry, Osawayenmen Azamosa
- Okoegwa, Usifo Stephen
- Samuel-Iluobe, Olayemi Oluwakemi
- Ogunbunmi, Samod Oyedele
- Mahmud, Tijani

They are currently pursuing Master’s Degrees (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering and will participate in Process and Bioprocess Engineering, Project Management for Environmental and Energy Engineering (PM3E), and Nuclear Engineering Production and Industrial Application (NEPIA).
Presenting the students to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, the Director of the Office of International Relations, Partnership and Prospects (IRPP), Professor Ismail Ibraheem, highlighted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNILAG and IMT Atlantique also opens doors for faculty research collaborations in Process and Energy Engineering, among other fields.

The Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Adekunle Adelaja, described the programme as a significant step toward achieving the proposed double Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering at UNILAG and Nuclear Engineering at IMT Atlantique.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Ogunsola expressed her excitement at the development, describing it as one of the outcomes of the university management’s earlier engagements with IMT Atlantique. She congratulated the students and urged them to embrace the opportunity to address challenges in the energy sector with practical solutions. She further encouraged them to maximize the benefits of knowledge acquisition, cultural immersion, and personal development.

Also present at the brief session was Emmanuel Okere, a 400-level Mass Communication student, who was part of a four-member team that recently returned from a U.S. Government-sponsored Community College Initiative. The students spent August 2024 to May 2025 at various colleges across the United States.
