SSANU Inaugurates Kashim Ibrahim University Chapter; Abba Alh. Mustapha Emerges Chairman

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) Chapter, has been officially inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in strengthening staff representation and fostering harmonious labour relations within the university.

The inauguration was conducted by the National Vice-President, North-East Zone of SSANU, Comrade Isa Audu.

The newly inaugurated executives include: Comrade Abba Alh. Mustapha as Chairman, Baba Malam Bukar as Treasurer, and Abubakar Umar as the pioneer Secretary.

Other members of the executive committee include Hassana Abdulsalam as women leader and Grace Madu as financial secretary. 

In his remarks, Comrade Isa Audu described the inauguration as timely and strategic, noting that the leadership will serve a three-month transitional period aimed at laying a solid foundation for the union. He urged members to remain loyal to the university management, uphold unity, and promote peace, progress, understanding, and professionalism within the institution.

He further emphasized that SSANU serves as a platform that brings together senior non-teaching staff across Nigerian universities, promoting academic excellence, staff welfare, and institutional development.

He expressed pride in extending this network to Kashim Ibrahim University, thereby enhancing collaboration and progress among non-teaching staff.

Also speaking, Comrade Ali expressed confidence that SSANU would contribute significantly to the university community by promoting staff welfare, enhancing institutional experience, and addressing key challenges. He highlighted areas of focus to include infrastructural development, student support services, and staff training opportunities.

He urged members to actively participate in union activities, organize impactful programs, and work collectively to make SSANU KIU a strong and effective voice for all.

In her remarks, the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Jallaba M. Sheikh, who represented the management, described the inauguration as a milestone achievement for the institution. She noted that this is the first time SSANU is being established in the university, which is barely seven years old.

She further explained that SSANU is now the third union to be inaugurated in the university, following the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) last year and NASU just recently. She added that the university looks forward to the establishment of NAAT to complete the union structure within the institution.

On behalf of the management, she warmly welcomed the National Vice-President, North-East Zone, and his delegation for successfully inducting the SSANU members into Kashim Ibrahim University.
