The gathering included Wale Edun, Minister of Finance; Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and National Planning; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment; Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation; and Mele Kyari, CEO of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The meeting, aimed at resolving the contentious issues surrounding the new minimum wage, saw President Tinubu urging the Federal Government's representatives to find amicable solutions swiftly. The urgency of the matter was underscored by the recent suspension of a strike by labour leaders, signaling a window of opportunity for negotiation.
Mohammed Idris reported that the President had tasked the Minister of Finance to expedite the process of 'crunching the numbers' to facilitate negotiations with organized labour. This directive comes with a tight deadline, requiring figures to be ready between yesterday and today, reflecting the President's commitment to a resolution.
