Teacher Sentenced for Alleged Sexual Assault on 4 Boys in Kaduna State

Josiah Alkali, a 30-year-old teacher, has been sentenced to jail after being found guilty of allegedly kissing and romancing four boys in Kaduna state. The victims, aged between 13 and 15 years, were reportedly lured into Alkali’s room in Takau, where he engaged in inappropriate behavior with each of them.

Josiah Alkali, a 30-year-old teacher, has been sentenced to jail after being found guilty of allegedly kissing and romancing four boys in Kaduna state. 

The case was brought before the court by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which charged Alkali with defilement on four separate counts.

The victims, aged between 13 and 15 years, were reportedly lured into Alkali’s room in Takau, where he engaged in inappropriate behavior with each of them. The matter came to light when the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Kafanchan received a report on July 3, prompting an investigation by the NSCDC.

Marcus Audu, the NSCDC prosecutor, revealed that Alkali had committed the acts with the boys on multiple occasions between February and July 2024. Audu further stated that the defendant had threatened the victims with harm if they disclosed the incidents to anyone.

During the investigation, Alkali confessed to the crimes. However, the presiding judge, Samson Kwasu, declined to accept the defendant’s plea due to jurisdictional limitations. Kwasu instructed the prosecutor to provide duplicate case files to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The case has been adjourned until July 25 for further proceedings.
