A team representing The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), named PERSOLEARN, has secured victory in the Cisco CBP Nigeria Ideathon Competition. Comprising Oyelaja Iremide as Team Lead and Data Scientist, Kolawole Taiwo as UI/UX Designer, Shiaki Nunsi as Finance Manager, Faluyi Isaiah as Senior Developer, and Ayodele Righteous as Project Manager, with coaching provided by Professor Folasade Dahunsi, coordinator of the CISCO Academy at FUTA, the team emerged triumphant over competitors from Covenant University, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, and the University of Jos, securing the first position.

The winning project, PERSOLEARN, aims to address SDG 4: Quality Education by leveraging Cisco technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, and Automation tools like Cisco Edge Fog Fabrics. The solution seeks to revolutionize senior secondary school education by integrating AI to enhance learning experiences. Notable features include Personalized Learning, Computerized Adaptive Learning Tests, and a Gamified Learning Approach. Target audiences encompass senior secondary students, school authorities, extraclass prevarsities, teachers, parents/guardians, and governmental educational agencies.

The competition journey began with team registration and proposal submission, followed by a rigorous review process culminating in the selection of the top five finalists, including Team PERSOLEARN, on November 23, 2023. A virtual debrief session on December 8, 2023, introduced the team to mentor Funmi Fasasi, who provided guidance throughout the preparation phase.

In response to the team's victory, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Oladiji FAS, extended congratulations, hailing their achievement as a testament to the institution's leading position in technology and product development. She expressed pride in Team PERSOLEARN, lauding their representation of FUTA's motto of "Technology for Self Reliance" in both words and deeds, affirming them as worthy ambassadors of the university.

The Cisco Ideathon serves as an avenue for students to showcase their potential and creativity in Cisco's technological innovations. It offers a competitive platform for demonstrating original thinking and problem-solving abilities using cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, networking infrastructure, and collaboration tools. Qualifiers of the Ideathon stand to gain internship opportunities with full-time placement prospects.
