Students from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), participating in the Microsoft ADC Students League (MASL), demonstrated their software development prowess at the MASL Hackfest event held on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at the Microsoft Office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The MASL program, an initiative of the Microsoft Africa Development Center team, aims to groom students into world-class Software Engineers and Product Managers. The inaugural cohort of students embarked on a 13-month journey filled with growth, challenges, and valuable lessons.

Led by Mahmood Ademoye, the FUTA MASL team, consisting of Dolapo Oshikoya, Ishola Samad, Abdussomod Amoo, Daniel Ander, Oluwaferanmi Oladepo, Ayodele Oladiran, Quwam Ogunlaja, and Abdullah Oyelakin, was tasked with developing innovative solutions under the theme "Local Idea, Global Impact (LIGI)."

During the event, the team presented two projects: "NATAGUARD" and "CASSAVAMAX," addressing challenges in the health and agricultural sectors, respectively.

NataGuard focuses on utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning to predict and mitigate maternal morbidity risks. It features a user-friendly dashboard and a secure patient portal to facilitate efficient management of maternal health.

On the other hand, CassavaMax is a Farm Management System leveraging data and machine learning algorithms to optimize cassava yield for small and medium-scale farmers. It factors in variables such as weather conditions, soil type, and planting season to enhance agricultural productivity.

Team FUTA expressed their gratitude to the Microsoft ADC team for organizing the impactful MASL program, which provided a platform for participants to showcase their skills and creativity. The initiative has enabled students to unleash their potential and contribute innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
