Two students were killed in an ambush by gunmen along Kurra Falls in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. The victims, 25-year-old Obadiah Daryan from the National Veterinary Research Institute Vom and 21-year-old Ezekiel Monday of Government Senior Secondary School Gashish, were attacked while riding a motorcycle.

In a tragic incident, two students have been killed in an ambush by gunmen along Kurra Falls in the Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims, identified as 25-year-old Obadiah Daryan from the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Vom and 21-year-old Ezekiel Monday of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Gashish, were reportedly attacked while riding a motorcycle towards Barkin Ladi town.

Sources revealed that the assailants shot the students, stole Obadiah’s mobile phone, and fled the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined, and the Plateau State Police Command has not made any arrests in connection with the killings.

The unfortunate incident is not an isolated event in the area, as the region has recently witnessed a series of violent clashes, including attacks, killings, farmland destruction, and cattle rustling involving farmers and herders.

In a related development, Francis Samuel, a resident of the Fass settlement, was stabbed on Thursday night in the Kwi community. Samuel is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital for his injuries.

The Plateau State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, has yet to release an official statement addressing the recent attacks in the state. The incidents have heightened concerns about the security situation in the affected areas.

The community continues to grieve the loss of the two young students as authorities intensify efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
