UCHOI Management Receives Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Abib Olamitoye to Tackle Hospital Energy Challenges
The Management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, received a high-level delegation led by Dr. Abib Olamitoye on March 31, 2026, to address the institution's pressing energy infrastructure needs.
Dr. Olamitoye, a 1985 alumnus of the College of Medicine and former President of the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association (ICOMAA), visited on behalf of his graduating set to explore sustainable energy interventions for the hospital.

The primary objective of the visit was to conduct a professional assessment of the energy challenges currently hampering healthcare delivery. Dr. Olamitoye emphasized the alumni's desire to identify and implement "sustainable solutions" that will enhance operational efficiency and modernise the hospital’s power systems.

Responding to the initiative, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, lauded the 1985 set for their proactive commitment to their alma mater. He acknowledged that consistent power is critical for life-saving services and expressed the management's full support for the project.
"We appreciate the initiative to explore practical and lasting solutions," Prof. Otegbayo stated, affirming that the management would provide an enabling environment to ensure the successful implementation of any proposed energy projects.
The visit underscores the growing role of alumni associations in bridging the infrastructure gap within Nigeria’s premier teaching hospitals.
