UI Dominates 2025 BOSAN Scholarship: DVC (Admin) Hails Faculty of Law for National Excellence
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), University of Ibadan, Professor P. O. Olapegba has stated that excellence, staff dedication, quality service and a strong academic culture remain the defining strengths of the institution.
Professor Olapegba made this statement while receiving the 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholars from the Faculty of Law in the University on a courtesy visit on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Olapegba congratulated the faculty and the awardees, noting that the achievement further reinforces the University’s national standing as a lead University. He emphasized that the true identity of the University lies in its academic depth, discipline and quality of staff.
Professor Olapegba stated that the University of Ibadan’s integrity, experience and high quality of staff has helped sustain its long-term record of excellence. He added that the consistent performance of the Faculty of Law at the Nigerian Law School reflects the solid academic foundation provided by the University. He commended the faculty for producing three out of the five scholars selected by BOSAN from universities all over Nigeria. He encouraged the scholars to remain ethical and uphold the values of the institution in their professional careers, stressing that certificates alone do not define success, but character and responsibility do.
The Dean, Faculty of Law, Professor J.O.A. Akintayo, who led the team on the visit presented the three students of the faculty who emerged as BOSAN Scholars for 2025 out of the five selected nationwide, following a rigorous and highly competitive process. Professor Akintayo described the achievement as a testament to the outstanding quality of students and graduates produced by the Faculty of Law.
He explained that the scholarship, instituted by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), covers sponsorship for the beneficiaries’ final year of study in the University as well as attendance at the Nigerian Law School. He noted that each award is valued at One Million Naira annually. the three scholars include Mr. Tomilayo Ebenezer Oyedeji, Mr. Victor Oluwagbemiga Ayoola and Mr. Mercy Olaoluwa Olatayo.
He affirmed that their active engagement in community services beyond the classroom also strengthened their competence and visibility at the national level.
